Recipe: Greek honey dumplings with honey and cinnamon

As true Arcadians, we couldn’t not give you a traditional recipe with honey.

This is our version of honey and cinnamon donuts. We hope you will enjoy them with honey from Kolostoumpi Traditional Beekeeping!

Ingredients: (Serves 6)

– 200 g water

– 100 g butter

– 5 g salt

– 15 g sugar

– 150 g soft flour

– 4 eggs

– 2 kg vegetable oil for frying

Execution:

Put the water, butter, sugar and salt in a saucepan and cook over low heat. As soon as the mixture begins to boil, slowly pour in the flour, stirring continuously for about three minutes until it becomes smooth.

Take the pot off the heat and let it cool completely. Pour the eggs one by one into the cold mixture, combining carefully until they are completely incorporated. Beat the mixture in the mixer vigorously for 15 minutes. Let the mixture rest for 2-3 hours.

Heat the oil in a deep pot. When it gets hot enough, but before it starts to smoke, take a little bit of the mixture with a teaspoon and fry it in the hot oil one by one. When the dumplings rise to the surface, turn them over and continue baking until golden brown.

Serve them drizzled with warm honey and cinnamon.
