But some try to trick you with inferior honey products that are widely available in the market, watered down with syrup.

What does the label say?
It is very important to read what is written on the honey packaging. Is the word honey clearly spelled out? If yes it is good … otherwise there is a problem. Also, the ingredients should be clearly listed.
That is the texture?
Honey by nature is thick. You can easily see the texture just by tilting the package slightly. If it’s more runny, then it has more moisture, so it’s probably adulterated. Always prefer thick honeys.
Does crystallization indicate adulteration?
A widespread myth about honey concerns its crystallization. Crystallization – and not saccharification as it is usually called – is a natural process and is due to the glucose content of natural honey. So when you see your honey crystallize it means it is 100% natural!
The glass and water test
A classic test for the purity of honey is the glass and water test. Pour a spoonful of honey into a glass of water. Natural honey does not dissolve and sits at the bottom of the glass. Honey mixed with sugar syrup dissolves immediately. The more adulterated it is, the more easily it dissolves in water.
Understand by touch
Another easy test is to rub some honey on your fingers. Natural honey will be absorbed by our skin, while adulterated honey will stick – due to the high added sugar.
Taste as the guide
Finally, it is important to taste your honey. Natural honey leaves a slight burning sensation in the mouth and tongue, adulterated honey never does.
